Remove Heatsink Pushpins

    How the hell do I remove the oem intel pushpins from a heatsink? I bought a backplate for my new heatsink I need to remove the pushpins.

    If you look close at the top of the push pin, you'll see a slot. Carefully put a flat head screwdriver in there and turn it a quarter turn. (counterclockwise, I think)
    You might need to pull the pin slightly to get it to pop up.

    use needlenose pliers.

    oh, i thought he wants to remove the pushpins from the heatsink itself.

    if he wants to remove the heatsink from the mobo,...

    K, I finally managed to remove the pins in a not-so-delicate way. But for future reference, what would I do with the needlenose pliers?

    See that black thing thats preventing the black part from going up

    Pull it outwards with the pliers, don't break it.

    Black part can now finally go all the way out.

    btw,... its still isn't clear to me what you want to do
    the pics I posted is the way to remove the pushpins from the heatsink itself.

    if you want to remove the pushpins/cooler from the mobo,.. watch that video I posted above.
