So, someone dropped a bunch of luns off of a Solaris 8 host and we have some monitor configured that keeps complaining about the devices. We know the luns are gone, but I want to make it so that it doesn't show up in format. I know it can be done with cfgadm, but these particular devices aren't showing up with a 'cfgadm -al' so I can't remove them through there. Is there a way to remove these without having to reboot?

Wouldn't a reconfig reboot be required for that? Maybe not if you could unload the sd module?? Just a guess but I think you'll have to boot.

yeah, i know it can be done with a reboot, but was hoping to avoid that if at all possible. i wouldn't unload the module either because only a few luns were removed while the rest were left online.

oh, well. thanks for the response. i guess it is time to schedule a reboot.
