REMOTE DESKTOP TO HOME MACHINE: Mac to Mac

    How do i do it?


    my mom has a machine at home, i have a machine an hour away


    i was to be able to control her screen when she has problem


    free/paid suggestions?

    set her router up to forward the vnc port number to her computer, then when using screen sharing, the host is her external ip address

    or make sure you both have leopard and go to ichat and activate screen sharing

    if this is true, it will be much more leverage for my mom to pick up leopard sooner! woot

    No need to upgrade to Leopard. Turn on Remote Access in her Sharing system preference and use any VNC client (such as Chicken of VNC) to control her system. Other advantage of it over using Screen Sharing in iChat in Leopard is that she doesn't have to be there to allow you access to the system.

    another option is NTR Connect, direct take over of the other computer, free AND you can you can go across platforms (Mac to PC, PC to Mac, Mac to Mac etc...)

    I used to do this but the setup usually took longer than the fix to the problem would have taken. it did a good job once it was all setup though but this iChat thing seems to be a lot easier.
