They're releasing a 597 VTR, which is basically a 597 with a free-floated M4 handgaurd, pistol grip, rail on receiver, and your choice of 6 position collapsible or fixed buttstock. I don't know how they're going to justify a near $500 MSRP when there are so many better options out there (M&P 15-22, SIG522, GSG-5). There are a few upsides though compared to those other rifles. Magazines will be a lot cheaper and easier to find. You can buy 597 mags anywhere you can buy 10/22 mags. It's not covered in Real Tree like the R-25 and R-15 VTRs. And Volaquartsen makes a hammer and extractor that greatly improve the running of the rifle. Of course, most people will say, "Just buy a 10/22 and tacticool stock", but choice is what makes the world go 'round.
