So, if you haven't seen my existing thread already, I got a Remington 870 Express Super Mag. It only has a 23" barrel though. I found a 30" full choke barrel on ebay for a good price, but it says it's for a wingmaster. I know it is still a 870, and that it will only handle a 3" shell as opposed to my 3 1/2" shell, but will the wingmaster barrel fit on my express?

The seller said it would, but I just wanted to get another opinion.

Yeah I see no reason why it wouldnt. The express/wingmaster/police designations really just refer to finish, stock, pump handle, trigger group and weight etc to the best of my knowledge.

I don't think it is Wingmaster vs Express that you have to worry about, its super-mag vs. regular. I know there are a lot of parts that are not interchangeable between the two... but don't know for sure if the barrel is one of them.

Well, like I said, the seller said it would fit but it wouldn't be capable of the 3 1/2" shell. :dunno:

Why wouldnt it be capable of handling 3.5" shells?

Because the chamber is in the barrel, not the receiver.

Ok, just for reference, I called Remington and they confirmed it will work as long as I don't use a 3.5" shell.

$50+shipping for a 30" full choke barrel sounds good to me :coold:
