Ok.... so how much is a basic remington 700 in .308 (new and used)?

Also where can I find a aftermarket stock that has a wide front forend area (look at pic below). I know thats probably not the right terminology. I dont really like the basic stock that is really skinny.

Anyway I want to go as cheap as possible...

I think the basic SPS model is around $475. They recently came out with a varmint version, not sure how much more it is though.

Good god you were not kidding!! Like $400 on midway just for the stock and I thought AR shit was expensive! Why the hell are they so expensive?

I would be happy with a cheap-o stock noting over $120.... :coolugh:

Yeah thats not too shabby....

Now whats the going rate for a used rem 700 308?

...or better yet do 700 "police" come up for sale very often?

Edit: Used that is.... I dont really want to spend $900 on it.

It shouldn't be too hard to find one for sale. I saw one on arfcom not too long ago.

    Edit: Here's one in 7mm magnum. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=93&t=439118

700P's ARE for sale ALL the time... Look at gunbroker they are all over. There's one sitting on my table now... Get the VSF if there's no police available...

I guess you could say it was such a good deal he was at a loss for words.;)

Just browsing on gunbroker, not that it's the best place to price check, but they only seem to be $20-$40 more than the regular model.

Use the 700 at work and personally feel its highly overrated. Unless you are shooting 1,000 yard shots you can go with a Savage Model 10 LE and get damn near the same performance as my work rifle.

    700P is $800-900 while the 10LE is about $600.
