It has a 20 in. heavy barrel.

Is this a good price? I almost bought it yesterday, but thought I'd check in with you guys and see what you think.

I've been wanting a 700 for some long distance stuff for a while. I haven't seen anything under $900.
Which is OK, cause I don't have anywhere to shoot long range anyway, really.

My local Dick's had some on sale a couple weeks ago for $499. They were the OD green SPS varmints. I passed because I wanted a VTR in .223, and was thinking that's what they had on sale.

This one is all black. Polymer stock, wide at the front like this:

    But not the triangular barrel.

    SPS-V, tactical, VS?

    Pics?

Might not be too bad a deal if you need/want one now and don't want to deal with sourcing one used.

No pics, it's at the gun shop. I just called to verify.

It is a brand new SPS tactical, heavy barrel, 20" (not 22).

There's NEVER anything used. I mean I've seen a few 700s around town, new and used, but this is the first time I've ever seen one in 308, which is what I'm looking for.

Oh yeah, and it's $640, not $659. That was something else I looked at. :o

Gotcha. I was more talking about an online deal transferred in, but it might not really be worth the $100 or so you'd likely save.

That's a pretty good price; I'd snap it up if I was in the market.

I have a CETME, and just ordered 200 rounds of 308 from Cheaper Than Dirt. They haven't confirmed my order yet, though, so I bet those fuckers are going to tell me it's backordered.

That's actually why I want it in 308. So that I don't have to start stocking up on ANOTHER caliber of ammo.

i thought SPS-T's were around $550 new. at least that's the price a local gun store wanted for a .223.

    I have a VTR in .223
