Anyone use Hotline back in the day? How about ran a Hotline server? Did you use/remember Hotline Gods Toolkit? Little program server admins ran and it would do stuff like index the server and let users search, ban spammer and the like, send messages to other users for you when they logged in again, etc?

1.2.3 FTMFW! 1.5 sucked and then Adam Hinks sold out and 2.0 was filled with spyware.

You ever use Hotline Gods Toolkit?

Bwahah! Yeah all the "Goto this site and click the first pr0n link. The server password is the 5th word on the 2nd line. Then go back and click the second pr0n link. The login is the 9th word on the 5th line."

Well Hotline Gods Toolkit was the most popular admin tool for Hotline. Funny thing is that though it did do lots of cool stuff that made the admin's job much easier, it was also a trojan. You had to give it an admin account so it could index and send messages to everyone and kick users, etc. Well it then send the login and pass for every account on the server back to the writer. He had access to hundreds of Hotline servers. I know the guy that wrote it and he actually got a lot of legit accounts that way. Just show up as an admin and people would let him stay.

There are still some people running Hotline. http://www.tracker-tracker.com/

hell yeah, wasn't there some big rift between v1.2.3 and v1.5? Something about spyware or other fucked up shit

Hotline was about the best place for warez back then, provided you knew a good server

edit: should've read your other post and not just the first one :mamoru: but yeah HL was the shit

Some of the best Hotline servers are still around and many made the switch to KDX or other server/client software. It's crazy to see what it's grown into. We were all just a bunch of young cyber punks and now many of them are working crazy jobs for companies you wouldn't imagine. Crazy how times change.

I thought Hotline was Mac-only at first, actually. :dunno: Mac users certainly seemed to have tighter warez communities put together than the Windows HL servers, at least in my experience.
