Someone asked for an example of what I could do with a religious theme instead of the usual "look at this random thing" theme. And, here's the BW conversion like I'm so fond of :big grin:

C'mon, tell me what you really think.

A crucifix doesn't make it religous automatically ?

What are you trying to convey, piety, faith ?

What part of religion do you want to convey ?

This looks like a picture of a symbol which is a little bit lacking in effort when you could do much more :dunno:

I've noticed the flare, and I"ll probably reshoot it tomorrow? I dunno. Someone asked me to shoot it for their studio thinger, just as a sort of accent piece *shrugs* I don't even know what I really want to convey..... Inspire me?

have someone wear it and give it a context ?

have multiple people wearing it ?

seat them on a church pough (how do you spell that, err) and take a shot going down the row at their necklines :dunno:

even though it's about one thing doesn't mean it has to be the only thing in the frame :dunno:

Lens flare. Poor focus. Meh lighting. B&W is a crutch. The lens flare and focus look unintended. If it was a choice, it should look that way. The composition and choice of angle are the strongest aspects of this avarage image. If you work a little harder on compositon and lighting this could be a much more interesting image.

I'll be giving it another shot tomorrow, preferably with black velvet instead of cheapass matboard :p The flare wasn't intentional, I was trying to avoid it really, and the focus is a pain with the closeup filters (no depth of field)

I like your choice of background. I'd avoid black velvet, try rough wood boards, dark stained wood, grass might be interesting or black sand. Keep up the good work.

Just get the cross litby something other than boring flashage, try to keep it looking pretty-ish, and basically give an example of what I could do with a religious topic so the guy that asked me to might buy a print. I haven't sent it to him though, looks like I'll be reshooting before I do :)

I meant, what kind of message are you just trying to get across?

Honestly? I didn't set out with one. It would probably help me choose a good final result if I had an objective in the first place though, wouldn't it?
