I'm on uni exchange and looking to get a car for holiday road tripping as well as going to all the snow resorts in B.C, so something that can handle snowy, windy conditions and uphill would be great.

So i pretty much need a durable long lasting tank that won't give me grief. Can anyone recommend me any models for under 4k max and also where to look around for reputable selling sites. I don't think i'm brave enough to get something off craigslist but can consider any options if you or know anyone selling a vehicle that fits my description.

And also another feature i'm looking for in terms of long term use is sleepability in the car/hatch/van or whateva. So i can put a roll out mattress and sleep at the back when i do extended trips.

Should i consider leasing a newer type car??

    What do you guys think?

    Grand Cherokee?

I don't think leasing would be a good fit for this situation, because of the mileage restrictions.

I'd say either a Grand Cherokee with a V8 or a Explorer with a V8. I know a lot of people don't like explorers but its a nice V8 and awd system. If you don't beat on it, it will last just fine.

You live in Australia which means you can buy a Nissan Patrol. I can not think of a more reliable, roomy, rugged, SUV then a Patrol.

Something with a carburated Chevy 350, a good set of hand tools, and plenty of spare parts.

The only way to get cheap and reliable is to be able to fix it yourself quickly when it brakes down.
