My brother has had a Lenovo laptop for close to a year and he's always commenting on how slow the thing is. He's supposed to bring it to me to look at but honestly I would rather just reinstall Vista on it and have a clean slate.

Problem is I don't believe it came with a recovery disc. Do they normally have recovery partitions? If I had to go that route I would but I was hoping there would be a way to download Vista Ultimate and just use his key on his laptop, Is that doable?

if it's running slow on his laptop you should install win7. runs much better on laptops.

Agreed. But it will also expire.

tell him to use one of the win7 deals that are floating around, not too expensive.

It will expire in a year. That's plenty of time to get the actual thing. Windows 7>XP>2000>Vista
