Ok, so my existing XP install suffered an unrecoverable problem, so I had to re-install. Now, when I try to access the desktop folder from the old install, it says "XXX is not accessible, access denied". Is there any way to access this folder? I obviously have the admin password, etc. There are a few DVD images in that folder, and I need the space back. Any ideas?

You may need to take ownership of the folder - right-click, properties and go to 'Permissions' or 'Security' give yourself full access and try that. If that doesn't work then it is possible that your hard drive is bad in that area - try running chkdsk (it will require a reboot) and see if anything pops up.
