Just registered a domain name, and was wondering, if I register it with a webhosting company, whose service is free, and then decide I don't like them, can I immediately transfer it to another company? (granted this will take time) I am curious to see if they make you wait a period of time before you can transfer it anywhere

you should be able to change it at the registrar, if i remember correctly, i can change mine at godaddy anytime i want, but it could take about a day to propagate through the network

Usualy it takes anywhere from 1 to 3 days for the domain name to switch over the new name servers that it's given. So yeah you should be able to transfer your hosting rather easily. Some companies even do it all for you for a little extra money
