I need to reformat, but i have never done it while having multiple hardrives or partitions. I have 2 HDs, and 80gb and a 300gb. The 300 has is partitioned into a 2 drives. I need to format my 80gb hd. Is there anything i need to know about before i format that hd?

and your drive mappings *may* change after the format.

If you're really concerned about it, you can disconnect the other drive until you're back up and running.

My concern is damagin my other drive, i just wasn't sure if there was anything that i had to do before formatting because my C drive is my main drive, the other is just for movies, music, and games. I know i need to transfer over any files i want to save or burn them, just wasn't sure if i had missed something else.

No, you can't hurt the other drives from formatting one of them.
Like xnevergiveinx said, you only have to make sure you do the correct drive.
And you could just unplug the spares.
But when you fire it all back up, windows xp will automatically recognize the
    backup drives.
