anyone know what i can do??

cause when i ran "chkdsk /r" in dos it said

the volume appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems

so then i downloaded "Seatools" http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/seatools

ran the short check and it passed... runnign the long one now

ill keep an update on what happened(im gonna try my windows xp disc next)

have you just tried quick format? thats what i always use.

also, if worse comes to worse, you could use the seagate tools to zero out the drive, then see if it will format with the windows disk

That sounds like a bad idea. All the Quick Format does is erase the drive's table of contents -- it doesn't do anything about the problems on the disk platters, and it sounds like you definitely have some.

Be prepared to have to bail her ass out of trouble on a regular basis for as long as that drive stays in her computer.
