I can't figure out exactly what I'm looking at there. Is it just a disc laying on your desk, reflecting light from your monitor?

I did something similar when I first picked up my D80. Alternated a yellow and blue full screen image from my laptop around the subject. I was really, really bored :)

your dof is WAY to narrow on this shot. It may have worked if you had your focal point as the hole in the center of the CD instead of the rim just above it. Since the area you have as your focal point is a pretty smooth and uniform area it makes the whole image look oof.... And to compound that, this is really boring.... the comp isn't very exciting. Had you done something a little more unique with the comp, this might have turned out interesting.
