I usually like to lift as big as I can, so I'll do a set of say 8 curls and say I start at 30, I'll do 4 out of 8 and be unable to do another so I'll go down immediately to 25 and finish the set, then by the last set I may do like 2 reps 30, 2 reps 25 and the final 4 at 20, which keeps me as close to failure as possible, is this a good thing? I've heard a lot about programs where the weight increases as the the set proceeds so I want to make sure I'm not doing something wrong.

Whats the logic behind that? In my way of thinking you hit the heavy weight while you're fresh and then as you get tired move down to lighter weights to squeeze a few more reps out. And I may do curls but I'm bigger than you :fawk: if thats you in your av

i agree with it...if you can switch weights quick enough, it gets your muscles to the point of failure better IMO....

i have a couple buddies that swear by this (well sort of) they start out heavy and go light... as in 4-6 reps, then 6-8, 8-10, 10-12. they get better results than i do but they go more often and have been going for longer. i tried it out a few times and didn't like it.
