Is it good/smart to take a week off from lifting every few months? Do you all do this? If you're like me you hate missing even a day at the gym. Obviously if it's smart to do this then I will. Would it be ok to do light lifting for a week or nothing at all?

Every few months its not a bad idea to give your body a rest.

Do you suggest like a week of doing nothing?

Most find it best to have a "deload" week every month or two, doing the same exercises with light weights.

every month or two seems too frequent

most of us here don't work hard enough to warrant something like that, at best I would think maybe every 6 months

I take some time off if my joints start aching.

I don't sit around and do nothing though. I'll take the time to go running or something else productive.

Usually every 3 months or so. It tends to workout that this off-time is around the same time as finals.
