my friend told me that there is a way that you can record sounds while taking notes so if your professor is about to say something really important you can have it start recording and you can stop the recording and continue taking notes. has anyone ever heard of this? if so how is it done. im just looking for different ways to possibly take better notes on a computer.

My office for mac did that through Word, using a 'notes' view. There was a little red record button, push it and it recorded an embedded audio file on the line of notes you were typing.

    Other than that, :dunno:

    that's slick.

That's one thing Word has up on Pages. Does word export to PDF, without having to do the Print-To-PDF thing?

not sure, but print to pdf is easy enough.

:eek3: that's freakin awesome! very cool! will it record full lectures or is it for small files?

:dunno: i just used my digital recorder, uploaded my lectures to my pc, converted them to mp3's, and burned them to a cd.

    worked fine for me :)

    edit :o :o :o i hate macs, but please don't hate.

I believed it would record as long as there was space on your HD, but the quality was poor unless you were quite close to the speaker.

I found it easier to just listen and make good written notes when necessary. Who wants to listen to a lecture twice? :dunno:

I always wondered why Microsoft doesn't make OneNote for Macs. That kicks the shit out of Word in 'notes' view. Best notetaking software out there by a very wide margin.

in for tips. i start class tuesday, and apparently my radio production prof speaks faster than most can type. i'm thinking about recording the entire class and typing the most important stuff.
