Hi. I'm currently using a Radeon 7200 and have been thinking of upgrading. I mostly play Counter-Strike and a bit of Battlefield 1942 every now and then. My budget is about $100 (but preferably less). I'm not looking to overclock the card.

These are the ones I'm considering (in order):
    GeForce Ti4200 (64MB model)
    GeForce 4400
    Radeon 9500
    Radeon 9600

    Here are my PC specs:
    1.8 GHz Pentium 4
    512 MB RDRAM
    30GB hard drive (but partitioned)

Thanks for your help in advance and let me know if you'd like any more info.

I've been finding GeForce Ti4200s selling on Ebay for less than $60 and at online stores for about $80. My roommate recommended this card for me and he said it would be a noticeable improvement in quality and performance (i.e. rounded edges, more pronounced texture, etc.). Thanks for the tip, though.

Also, does anyone know of any online places where I can find video cards for a relatively low price? (i.e. half.com, pricegrabber.com, pricewatch.com....any others?)

You're not going to get much of a card for $100. Of those, i would go with a 9500 or 9600 over either of the GF4's in a second. They'll last you longer

If you're looking at a GeForce 4, go ahead and go with the ti4600.

I'm not looking for a major upgrade. Just something better than my current Radeon 7200. I don't play any very graphic-intensive games.

what? no. 9600 = crippled. 5900 = full featured card. flashing the bios to a 5950 is just another added bonus over the 9600xt. and its stock btw...

I went from a 7500 to a 9600 SE and the difference was like night and day, then I got a 9600 PRO AIW... another huge jump. nVidia has been fucking up too much lately, I used to be a diehard nv fan, but if they can't release drivers taht work... also, DX9, must have
