That looks like a good cd, but if you plan on downloading those off of Kazaa and expect great sound quality, think again. Thats assuming you are using those tracks as a sound quality test, if its a bass test cd you are looking for, low quality mp3s work fine...

I'm looking for sound quality, and songs to demo products for customers who forget to bring their own CDs (hence the variety of music).

one I always use for SQ tests is my commercial copy of jean michael jarre "oxygene 8" (yeah its techno, but it puts all parts of a sound system through hell so I say it works)

Any track off Aja - Steely Dan would be a nice addition. Mickey Hart's Mystery Box is a fantastic album for SQ, and good music as well (Rykodisc). Mystery Box is really centered on percussive instruments and female vocals - it's very good.

All their new stuff is too whiney, and all the old stuff is too..... vulgar (don't wanna offend the customer).

I always thought Bone Thugs N Harmony's "Dayz of our Lives" was a good song. It has great low and high bass, good midbass, and highs. I would always use it to compare different types of sub installations to see what I wanted, and if the highs sounded too "tinny (i know its not a word, but Im sure you know what i mean), then it was either a crossover adjustment or another set of speakers needed.

holy shit, using TECHNO to judge sound quality. I am speechless. :o

Eagles Hotel - California (live) is a good one... Fiona Apple is also very good. I would have to give a big thumbs down to the others though.

Anyways, I'd go with Eagles, some fiona, some Patricia Barber, maybe some Bjork, Pink Floyd...

Michael Jackson "Thriller" is actually very good too. I think it would be a great track to test a car stereo in. It's a track that just begs to be played loud. I'm sure it would impress most people who would be looking for car stereos. :dunno:

Maybe Dave Matthews would be a decent pick too... lots of customers probably like him.

Now... if you want to test the loud, crazy, "BANGIN SYSTEM YO" effect of it.... just use Drum and Bass. :big grin:
