I am in the market for a new digital camera.... I was looking at the sony DSC-P5 but it is around $400. This one has 3.3 megapixel. The DSC-P5 was pretty sweet. Anyone against sony? Anyone with recommendations for others, or anyone recommending the sony? thanks

as with anything sony, you have to spend a lot of money to get the one with the good options.

the cannon s30 is a great camera. and i just bought the olympus c3020z. it's nice, but a little bulky. and trust me, having a small digital cam is very usefull.

canon s30.... has all the manual settings you'd ever want, but i wish you could have manual when you're in the creative mode

How much are you willing to spend?

Are you looking for something to use casually or professionally ?

www.dpreview.com is probably the most thorough review site you'll find on most popular model cameras out.

Well, i would like to spend about $400 and it is for casual/vacation type use. Mostly just sending pics for fun, stuff like that. With that said, how many megapixels would satisfy that type of use?

if it's that casual, i don't see why you'd need more than 2.0 mp :dunno:.

Rip down to best buy and take a look at the cameras they have there .... find one that's within your budget and fits you hand well ... then buy it

No one shots the same pics as you do. So recomendations are useless. Get what fits your hand, and stick with a brand name you know. $400 and casual/vacation type use will put you in line with just about 4000 cameras. You will not be disapointed if you stick to a brand name (brand known for cameras like Nikon, Canon, Sony)

Chances are, millions of people shoot pics like him.
Oh, and Sony may be a brand name, but they fucking suck when it comes to digital cameras. And they sucked even more back in 2002.
