So I've pretty much exhausted Batman stuff, and he is the only DC stuff I care for. I would like to read marvel, mostly x-men stuff, also interested in spider-man, deadpool, and wolverine.

not looking to be up to date with the current issues, want to buy TPB's because I would rather only get stuff once in a while.

what are the staple TPB's that define those comics i listed.

oh, and im also interested in the avengers and iron man to a lesser extent

Ultimate Spiderman is fucking awesome. Those essential collections are also pretty solid.

It's a shame that there is no Deadpool TPB out already.

bendis' avengers have been top notch, compared to the late 80s, early 90s, and late 90s anyway. new avengers is pretty kickass too. the big events are always good reads in trade format (house of m, civil war, world war hulk, etc...). i've been enjoying the immoratl iron fist (until recently, when what's his name started writing it...the crackhead who writes cable).

they collected bendis' daredevil run in a massive hardcover...that is definately an amazing read.

captain america comes to mind as a perfect DC character, golden age hero who, if written properly, can make the marvel u a better place. case in point, ed brubaker's captain america has been top notch. if you like the spy, espionage stuff with load of action and drama...then captain america is your boy.

and read deadpool...i'm going to bed

If nothing else, read those two, they're up there among the best TPB's ever.

As for X-men, Dark Origin is great, so is The rise and fall of the Shi'ar Empire, but you'll wanna read Avengers Disassembled and House of M first. The first two are fairly new.

I didn't really like Messiah Complex or Endangered Species.

Oh, and gotta throw in another vote for Extremis and Ultimates 1-2, really, really good.

Oh, and Marvel Zombies, that's really good too.

I believe it's just titled "Joker." Sometimes going under the name of "Joker HC"
