My running shoes aren't cutting it. When I DL/squat, my feet and knees pronate (is that the right term?) inward and it puts a lot of unnecessary strain on my knees. What are some good shoes I can get for wearing to the gym and possibly elsewhere?

I'm looking for something like the Nike Shox (cross-trainers?)...no olympic/powerlifting shoes...just normal everyday shoes that will keep my feet/knees from pronating inward when I pull and squat.

i have a pair of nike shox. i do cardio in them, but not lifting. the heel is pretty high and too "cushy" for squats; i can't really feel the floor and they ten to push me forward onto my toes.

i squat and pull in my chucks.

If the Shox push me onto my toes that will probably be a good thing...it'll help me hit depth.

I've actually heard that chucks are pretty good for squat/dl, but I'd prefer something else.

I use my old wrestling shoes, they give fantastic support, grip, and have flat soles; everything I want. Chucks work pretty much just as well.

Here's the thing. Being African-American means you can pull something like that off...hell, you could probably pull off pink shoes and a dress and still look good. I, on the other hand, would look like a gigantic fucking moron in those

I'm going to check to see if they come in solid colors...thanks :)

Silver/black doesn't look too bad...I think I'll check them out in person. They might look weird on me because I have long legs, thin calves and size 13.5 feet :o

Squat - chucks or any flat soled shoes

Deadlift - wrestling shoes. I have a great pair of nike wrestling shoes I use. They were cheap too. Just find something that fits like a glove and has a ton of grip (I prefer the 1 piece soles).

I just got some Adidas Sambas, going to squat in them today. I'm not a big fan of the way Chucks look and competition squat shoes are way too expensive and unnecessary at this point.

But I squatted just fine for years in Nikes.
