the one ive got now is cheap and kind of bends on the head b/c the camera & battery grip is too heavy and thats w/ a 50mm lens on it.

Go to their tripods section, and looks at various inexpensive models. Take notice max load of each model.

    $7,000 tripod?
I've seen some ~$1,000 tripods, but nothing that extreme.
What makes it so expensive? IS it like made 100% of titanium or something?

i got a vangard tabletop one. after a few uses the legs won't lock anymore, and the ball head has trouble locking. i guess that's expected for a $15 tripod, but it may say something about the company's quality control

I carry a Manfrotto 718SHB with me on my bike... 3 way head and 4 section compact light tripod for $99 retail. I'm sure you can find for a bit less.

I reccomend it for up to 17-40 4L lens and 20D+grip weight. It's just not sturdy enough for very heavy lenses

I just got a nice gitzo carbon fiber one but it's a bit bigger and it's $400 for legs only.

Thing was hand built, I forgot what brand he told me it was, but he had the fucking receipt for it in his bag

    He is a professional photojournalist.

I cant believe he let me use it while he was interviewing some people, I didnt even ask to, he came up to me and said to go get some good shots of the train. :wiggle:
