    I'm thinking:
    - 2004 Mazdaspeed Miata
    - 1997 Porsche Boxster
    - 2000 Honda S2000.

Anything else I should consider? I would also be fine with an older car like a fiat spyder or MG.

My main priorities are convertible, easy to mod, quick (stock or after mods), and just all around fun to drive (handling, acceleration).

Cars I've considered, but don't really excite me like the previous listed cars do:
    - BMW M Roadster
    - BMW M3
    - Mitsubishi Eclispe (already owned one)

M3 costs too much to maintain.

Definitely go for the MS5. The S2000 is a nice car too, but in this case it's older than the MS5 and it doesn't give you that "I got a lot of car for my money" feeling.

lol. every post you make shows how little you know about cars.

only a fucking idiot would take a miata over an s2k.

He's actually right - the only M3 I can afford in the $15k range would already be 10 years old and also beat upon by its previous owner. I've already been in that boat with an eagle talon and don't want to do it again.

I would love to have an S2000, but cost is always a factor and the miata has a cheaper cost of entry, lower insurance, cheaper performance costs, etc...

and the miata will always be a miata. although agile, slow as fucking piss.

the s2000 on the other hand is a much better platform to start with. quick out of the box, handles excellent etc.

you get what you pay for and by the sound of it, you shouldnt be buying anything for a weekend car if you cant afford to maintain an s2k.

Goddamn you're annoying. Do you even have a license yet, or do you just troll around OT Driven because your mom doesn't need you to drive her to the grocery store today?

The MS5 is considerably faster than the regular pre-2006 Miata. If you'd ever driven one you'd know that.

EDIT:  @ your new AV caption! You have way too much time on your hands if you're actively seeking out new ways to piss me off. Get a job, kid. Wal-Mart's always hiring.

  13. It's just what he does.

Of the 3 cars listed, I'd take the Miata. There is so much aftermarket for them, and parts are reasonably priced. They might not be kings when it comes to power, but you can always turbocharge it. Even if you don't, you can enjoy great handling for very little money. Also, as mentioned before, they would be much cheaper to insure than a S2000. Really, the only advantage of the S2000 would be its out-of-the-box power advantage. And with the Miata you're getting a car with 4 years less wear too.

the mazaspeed miata of that year (04) comes turbocharged stock if I'm not mistaken.

Mazdaspeed Miata with just a few mods can put down 200+ rwhp. That car with 200 rwhp would be fun as hell.

Another vote for the Mazdaspeed. The MR2 Spyder is also worth looking at, if you are willing to pull weight from it and add a bit of power it can be pretty fast.

Practicing your personal attacks so you won't get your ass beat in the main forum, eh? Good luck with that. Might want to take it to the dedicated anti-me thread, though, since you obviously know there is one. Now go away and stop shitting up the man's thread.

Not really sure a Datsun 510 is what he's looking for, Panzer. He seems to be leaning in the direction of small, light, modern, convertible.

i'll cast my vote for the ms miata. factory turbo, with easy to upgrade parts, and an already fun platform. its the most fun for the least money imo. they hold their resale value fairly well, too.

after owning a boosted '90 miata, and test driving several ms miatas, i'd go with the earlier one, and boosting it again, but i wasn't dissapointed with the stock power of a ms.

if you're going for pure driving fun, get the miata, if you want some nanner on the weekends, get the porsche (the girl porsche, mind you), but if you want a little of both, get the s2k.

mazdaspeed miata sounds like the better all-around choice in this bunch but the porsche sounds nicer if looks and appearance are more important. I like the s2000's but I don't fit in them (never sat in a miata though...)

if you hadn't said convertible, i'd probably recommend a few other cars

From your top list S2000 > MS Miata > Boxster #3. The 99 Boxster that I drove surprised me how crappy it felt... slow as balls too. The MS Miata is turbo, but with only 170 hp. The S2000 might be a little tiresome with very little power under 6k rpm, but it still wins for me.

You would get more enjoyment from an M Roadster compared to a Boxster but good luck finding a lower mileage example for under $15k.

Of course, you can't get an M3 because Deusex knows all about them and says they cost too much to maintain.

M3s do cost a lot to maintain (this coming from someone who owns an M5)

Anyway, I would go with the S2000 if it were me. They are tons of fun, and pretty reliable as well.
