I don't have much to spend.

I've been taking photos but they keep turning out like this:

I have a 50 1.8. Is it because I'm on a crop? Or the screwdrive on it?

I heard the 35 1.8 is amazing though. Will it allow me to take photos like this:

buy a 10mm fisheye, and just crop all your images
you dont need to buy longer lenses

no doubt the 35mm 1.8 is a pro lens though

That's not a lens issue. That's a problem with your camera. Send it back to Canon/Nikon and they'll send you a brand new Holga in trade. Win!

if you don't get over your hate with the 50 1.8, i'll make you cry. don't tempt me.

to answer the question, it has nothing to do with the lens, your shutter speed is too slow.

up the iso, get a flash or lower your f stop.

sure, if you like most boring focal length in the history of the universe and bokeh that causes epileptic seizures in small children...

    Wirelessly posted via wap.offtopic.com (Opera/9.80 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.2.13918/922; U; en) Presto/2.4.15)

I think you need the 200 f/2.8 prime.

Of course the 50 1.8 is the sharpest lens ever. Great indoors. Focuses in zero light. You'll never even need a flash! Must be user error. I know because it's my only prime and it's sooo much better than the kit lens stopped down to the same apertures.

Your lens isn't the problem, it's your camera body. You need a full frame camera to get a clear image.

FX + Battery Grip = Solution

See the cougar/reindeer thing in your top image...you would've really captured him in all your glory if you had the above.

It's the lack of dynamic range.

Try HDR for the first shot. Should clean those black stripes right up.

Phew good thing I have a 55 to use instead of my 50 for zebras. Those bold stripes seem to throw the lens out of focus like mad.

The 50 1.8 shall hereby be named "The Obama Lens"

Everyone gets it hoping it will be amazing. Upon realizing the disappointment, they refuse to give up on it and keep sackriding it to death.

i wouldnt call it a hate. but when new users are looking for a dslr, i always say go nikon 35 1.8 over 50 1.8. so many benefits for the $75 more.
