So who makes the best kit with turned down bolt handle, scope base, ect.? Seems rather hit or miss with the reviews people are giving.
    Looking for something like this:

Also has anyone used one with the scout style scope placement or the original 4x PU scope?

I've thought about it but my mosin's barrel has been so shot out that there is almost no reason to scope it. I want to get it shooting min of plate before I bother scoping mine.

not only that but its probably more trouble than its worth to scope an $85 rifle.

What, are you trying to redirect and magnify the light onto a darker portion of the room?

theres two methods to go about it..

    method one:
buy one of the pre-scoped ex "sniper" configured 91/30s

    method two:
use your Mosin as a boat anchor or door stop and buy a rifle that has an aftermarket outside of ATI and Tapco.

That mount is made by ATI. The scope mount is fine but the new bolt handle is held on with one screw. Definitely a potential weak point.
There's not a lot of clearance under the scope mount rail and a simple bent bolt won't fit. You need a bolt where the handle has been pounded flat and welded to it. A guy online called Boltman does a good job.

Where's yar when you need him?

I'd general I'd just say to get a different gun. Dropping a few hundred to scope an $80 gun with a shot out corroded bore that you're going to run trash ammo for isn't generally smart. It'd just be better to get a platform more suited for it and appreciate the mosin for what it is. 9/10 times the guy at the range with a scoped mosin is a guy I correctly peg as a shitty shooter. Him and Mr. Tapco'ed SKS could start a shitty shooters club.

Cliffs: make a lamp, buy a new gun

a scope for a <$100 gun, anything i can get from a garage sale or something for crazy cheap and fabricate some mounts, who cares if it's pretty.

but even that is just too much work to scope a gun that has no hope of accuracy, it's a cheap piece of history not a range gun

I have an M44 3-9x54 Scout scope mount. Sweet setup for open range. Bought mine for like $59.00 from Big 5, less than 2 years ago and was new, un-isssued. Great rifling and a sweet shooter. Only problem was having to cook it on the BBQ for about 4 hours at 500+ degrees to "de-grease" it.

I really like the Scout (aka Pistol) scope set up for open eyes shooting.

    THIS

That's not the bolt, it's part of the mount.

Find an ex-sniper. Assuming it is not shot-out, they were hand-selected at the factory for accuracy after being test-fired.

SNDP, where did you get the sling? That does not resemble the Combloc surplus shit I have seen.

I unsoldered/beat the rear sight until it slid off its base. It sits on a dovetail mount, so I just put a sturdy dovetail -> weaver scope adapter directly on the rear sight base. Loctited it down, and it's held zero just fine.
