I'm kind of leaning towards a Gigabyte board, but they only build about 40 different ones with similar specs. :hsugh: Dual NICs and Firewire would be nice, and if it had more than 4 SATA connectors that would be fantastic. Thoughts? Opinions?

Every board that I linked will work with Intel quad core.

The reason I linked so many was that you didn't give a budget.

Budget wasn't a concern, really. I ordered the P35-DS4 over the DQ6 because I don't like how the DQ6 sacrifices Firewire and USB ports for a serial and parallel. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. So here's my build:

    P35-DS4
    Q6600 G0
    4x1GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro (it was cheap, I'll through a Zalman or something else on if it can't keep the temps in check).

Already have everything else currently sitting in a X2 3800 system. Just need a good SATA RAID controller for a 4x500GB RAID-5 and I'm set.

Weird, Newegg seems to be retiring a number of Gigabyte boards today. Can't see the P35-DS4 or DQ6 on there anymore. Guess I might have grabbed on the last DS4s.

Already ordered the P35-DS4. Maybe should have waited? :dunno:

well,.. it's catered for performance enthusiasts.
those who can't afford it should stick to mainstream pcs.

Especially since at the present time, DDR3 underperforms compared to DDR2.

Good to know. I'm happy with what I ordered. I think this thing will perform well within or above my expectations.
