looking for something pretty cheap (dont say ebay, because I dont buy off of ebay anymore)

will be used indoor and outdoor, If it isnt the most stable stand for outside, but will work ok with sandbags I dont have a problem with that.

I am hoping to get 2 stands, 2 umbrellas + holders for $150 or less :x:

I have a pair of impact air cushioned stands and anoter pair of bogen stand that were recomended on the strobist DVD. The bogens are nice and compact but the impacts are a bit more stable

Those are a good deal for the price. And much better than having a friend holding your flash. :)

I think it was Intheworks who did not like the air cushoined stands.

I am interested in getting a setup like this also. What are you guys using for flash/ umbrella holders

I went with the Impact light stand and umbrella bracket. 43" Westcott umbrella. Been great for me so far--thanks Strobist!

I posted from my phone so I wasnt able to write much. But I hate my impact light stands. Its slow when you are trying to pack up and leave. The are also long. The bogen ones that I bought for a second pair are half the size and extend to the same height. The price was 2x more though and were a bit on the flimsy side. I would still choose the $50 bogen over the impacts though.

Im not sure if they were bogen or manfrotto I'll check during my lunch. Its in my trunk

I have same Impact stands as 95blue, and I like them a lot. I don't mind the air cushioning, cause it reminds me to be gentle with my equipment.

If you're carting the stands around....chances are they're going to get scuffed/banged/squashed/fucked up etc...So why spend a bucket of cash on incerdible stands when you can do with something easily replaceable?

Pic of set up? Basically I want a light stand with an arm that can form an upside down "L" to allow me to hang a flash directly over a subject.
