    I already have

a Custom 1911 .45 Built by myself and my dad
    a Browning HP 9 MM
    A beretta p22 target pistol
2 colt woodsman .22 lr target pistols

I want it in 9mm Im a shooter and I cant justify the cost of .45, .40, or .357 sig as a range gun. I shoot around 800 rounds a week at the range and I want a comfortable reliable gun that can stand up to 2-300 rounds a week and not give me issues. Full size or compact, My hands are to large for sub compacts, and as I am not going to be carrying it its not really an issue for me.

As of right now im considering a Beretta model 92s
    And a Springfield XD

Im considering a Sig Sauer p 226 but I think they are probably out of my price range right now. Im wanting to spend around 450 - 500 MAX

I am not a fan of Glock but I will consider them if you can give me some decent input about them. Ive heard many storys of springs comeing out and self destructs so im going to be a tough customer.

    Just run that BHP.

Glock 17 or 34(only because it's closer to the balance of a 1911)

Ought to be able to find a CPO P226 for just a smidge more than 500. Even though I love my 226 and it's pure sex to shoot, I have to throw in with the rest and say if you don't have a G19, you need to get one.

In addition to the other reasons mentioned, you can easily find one for $450-500 new, even less if you want one pre-loved.

XD-9 Tactical. If it's a range gun and like the 1911/BHP grip angle, then XD in a 5" barrel would do the trick nicely. 200-300 arounds a week would be a warmup.

P99, I have the .40 and its the got great ergonomics, has functioned flawlessly, liked it so much I sold my glock awhile back so I can pick up a 9mm version, which I'll be getting soon, have to go pickup a purchase permit today before I goto work, slightly over what your limit is though, I found the one I'm getting locally for $509.

Spring XD. I love mine. I'm not a sackrider like most, but I bought mine for a reason. More comfortable than the G17/19 I shot.

If you wait and look around you might be able to find a Walther P99 for just about or a little more than your price range. It will be my next handgun. I love the ergos of it. Fits my hand very well.

G19. Not for me, but 11ty billion LEO's can't be wrong.

I like how a post saying to buy a glock just explains why all it's flaws aren't soo bad, rather than saying anything good.

Most of the modern guns are reliable. Go pick a few up and buy whatever feels good in your hand. Sig and HK for me. :dunno:

Read to me like he was saying that all guns have the flaws he listed. Maybe it seems like they have more issues because there are just so many of them out there, not because they actually have more problems per weapon. That said, try out the Glocks, after shooting the competition then shooting a glock I was sold on a 19. So far not a single problem had after thousands of rounds.

Well he was initially skeptical about the Glocks so Tom was reassuring the facts. And that is that Glocks are solid weapons.

Sig and HK are going to be hard to find under 500. Used maybe, luck of the draw maybe. But you're not going to find one very common for that price.

Anyone said Ruger yet? Walther P99 would be good as well, might have to get a used one though at your price range.
