my 6800 ultra on a pci-e bus is getting really hot playing KOTOR1. Plays DOOM3 fine and FarCry. But for some reason playing KOTOR1 it heats up to over 75C. GOOD GOD! And then it starts to hang up.

    Playing DOOM 3 maybe 60C.

    What's a good cooling solution?

zalman vf 700 cu is WAY better than nv5. I've used both as have many others.

the zalman cools better AND it is quieter in quiet mode. I will never buy AC again.

How much of a temp drop did you get using the zalman vs the nv5?

I think a few degrees more. I forget really but I have the zalman on now and it's staying that way.

Zalman = easier to install. WAY easier to remove (Nv5 is a pain)
solid contact without worries, and ramsinks are nicer than the uneven copper plate. Also, my NV5 collected dust and it's difficult ot get it out.

*i updated the driver for my vid card and it no longer hangs up and plays at least 5C cooler, (so far)*

What does OT think of this water cooling setup

    http://www.thinkgeek.com/pcmods/cooling/6ea8/

for a SLI setup running 2 6800 ultras?

if you water cool, read up some more and DIY. Kits are expensive and for most parts aren't that great. But if you still want to go with a kit, the Zalman one is pretty decent.
