I need to buy a new car. I don't care how "cool" or "nice" it is at this point. I need something that's reliable, not very expensive (~3,000 or less), and gets decent mileage (>24 mpg highway).

Obviously, I can't afford a new car, so what do you suggest I look for as far as make/model/year goes?

any car you get for 3000 or less is going to be old so you wont be getting the best of what the car can gice MPG wise, but Honda, Nissan, Toyata are your best bets, ol skool civics get really good gas milage only 1.6 lit motor in them anyways

    civic or a hybrid.

Here is an old saying; Here are 3 options:

    Cost
    Reliability
    Performance

Pick 2. The other is going to be the downfall of your car.

Geo metro 3cyl. Bash all you want, they get like great mpg, they're cheap and mostly reliable, unless previous owners didn't care about it at all.

If you wanna asian import I'd go with an old STOCK honda.

  8. 3,000 or less I would say get yourself a 93-96 honda accord. You will find comfort in these cars and also great gas mileage. My first car was a 93 accord 150,000 miles on it. Ran good, had to put a few bucks into it, got like 340 miles to a tank once. Great car, good room for passengers.
