Budget of about $300 for both.

I had a RE12 and CDT CL61a which I think are blown :wtc:

I like the CDT CL-61's. Great speakers. Stay away from thezeb tho, they seem to have the old stock and have more issues. MainStreetAudio has been good to me.

I'd also go with an Elemental Designs sub. I think it's the e13v2o.

Send an AIM message to djdilliodon for CDT stuff. He's a distributor for them and he's on a lot of car audio boards if you want to check for reference.

If you liked what you had before, why not get replacements?

I guess I like to try other speakers on the market. Not really a die-hard CDT fan because the speakers I got gave me problems.

jollyogre: Where did you hear about thezeb.com's CDT stock have more issues?

I used to be on sound illusions, and the guy that turned me onto CDT also warned me about the zeb. Said they bought the old stock, and he had noticed a shotty record from them. I have ordered other things from teh zeb and I will not do business with them again. They do not match prices, despite their advertisements, and their stock is usually either old products, or has some catch. For the $5 extra that you spend at mainstreet, you know exactly what you're getting.

Well I can't exactly say the speakers are blown. They are just very muted and there is an alternator whine coming through the speakers. My guess is wiring issues but speakers could be blown.

i don't think they would be blown.

But Diamond M6/D6 components are real nice and don't seem to distort on me with enough power.

If you can increase your budget a bit, soundsplinter RL-i or RL-p sub would be a good bet

i'm not familiar with then new GTO JBL amps but i think they're supposed to be pretty good. I love the old BP series amps.

I sold my friend 2 BP amps for his STi and they are still pumpin away perfectly

have you temp installed anything else?

before you go blaming your issues on the company or seller, you might wanna look into what may be a user error

i pretty much tested out the front components.. and the sound occurs at the speaker which i connect to the left speaker connection at the amp. it also doesn't get much power at that side. i'm guessing its an amp problem, i bought a planetside for $100 as recommended by an oter.

and i picked up an alpine type-e 12". sounds pretty good for the buck.
