A friend has a 1.7ghz P4 that only accepts RAMBUS, and so its all really expensive. So I think its cheaper to get a new MOBO/RAM/Proc combo. He does business apps only. His video card is nvidia geforce2 mx/mx 400, so I think integrated sound/video is fine. He needs a gig of fast ram too. Priority on CHEAP.

    Anyone?

well, if all he does is business apps, then I'd say get a cheap Intel D915G or D945G mobo and a Celeron D, then a gig of RAM. Should run you, oh, under $250.

wtf. get a new mobo+cpu. much better worth the money, 1.7 ghz is getting slow now, and you can get ram that you *may* be able to use later on.

Thanks, that board, a Celeron D dual core smithfield 2.66ghz, and 2 x 512 Corsair value 533mhz is $308 shipped. Recommended.
