I've been trying to come up with a strict diet plan for a lean bulk, and I would very much like to include a daily pound of lean ground beef (90/10 or 93/7) in this diet. The problem is that I have almost no cooking skills, and therefore have no idea how to make the ground beef taste anything other than dry and nasty. Anybody know of any recipes to flavor up the ground beef, without adding too much in the way of fat/carbs? Thanks

Definitely onions, (because the water of the onions will make the beef juicier) garlic, pepper, and salt. It's a little plain so I usually add yogurt, like on the side and then eat em together.

I fry it up, drain it, throw a couple shakes of salt and pepper and a few tablespoons of tomato sauce (plain in the can) into a cup of rice. Mix, mow. :big grin:

Mix in some low sodium taco seasoning and throw it in a bowl with a cup of brown rice. Top with shredded lettuce, salsa and maybe some fat free sour cream.

Shockingly, Paula Deen's Meatloaf recipe is really good. I make it with lean beef all the time. I don't use her topping though. Alton Brown does one with Ketchup, cumin, hot sauce and honey that's better. Just be sparing with the sugary topping and you're golden.

    1 pound ground beef
    1 1/4 teaspoons salt
    1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
    1/2 cup chopped onion
    1/2 cup chopped bell pepper
    1 egg, lightly beaten
8 ounces canned diced tomatoes with juice
    1/2 cup quick-cooking oats

    Topping:
    1/3 cup ketchup
    2 tablespoons brown sugar
    1 tablespoon prepared mustard
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Mix all meatloaf ingredients well and place in a baking dish. Shape into a loaf. Topping:
Mix ingredients for topping and spread on loaf. Bake for 1 hour.

first of all, get leaner beef than that.

second of all, uh, what do you use regular meat for? eat it however you want, burgers, tacos, on lettuce as a salad, it's just meat :dunno:
