I just fried my motherboard so its time to buy a new one! I was running a mini-itx board (www.mini-itx.com)

    Here's what I'm hoping for:
    -quiet(cool)
    -video in/out
    -dual monitor
    -small

maybe micro ATX? I dont know. Are there motherboards that have dual monitor and video in and out? Or what video cards do that?

is mATX small enough for you? If so, then go with that, as ITX boards are not nearly as powerful.

As for dual monitors / vivo, I would stay away from onboard solutions. Grab a decent video card, and then get a good vivo card. The ATi All-In-Wonder cards are lame, so avoid them.

I need more information on what you wish to do before I can actually recommend specific products.

Ok. well I'm leaning towards mATX. So should I just get one of those that has an AGP slot? is AGPro the same as AGP?

What video card and vivo card would you reccomend?

again, you have not given me enough information to recommend a setup. What will you be doing with the box? games? which? office work? graphic design? media pc? etc?

oh my bad. I dont do much of anything on my computer. Surf the web, MS office, Matlab, Autocad. I guess I do want it to be a media box though. I've got 20gb of music and 30gb of video. I'm lookin to watch/record Tv and play DVD's and videos to a Tv.

how seriously into autocad are you? If you're pretty big on it, I'd go with a Matrox AGP card.

As for VIVO, what do you need it for? Just recording tv? I'd go with a Hauppage PVR-150.

Just a little bit of AutoCAD for class, and and I think I'm doing Catia next year. But not a lot. As for vivo, I hope to be able to watch tv on my pc and play video from my pc to my tv.

    EDIT

WOW! just looked at the matrox cards on newegg. Those are really expensive. I'm definetly not that serious with AutoCAD

a g550 runs about $90 and it does CAD and multimons very well. Doesn't do well for gaming, however.

Wow... so do you have any suggestions for a mATX board? I've got a 1.3 Athlon at home that I'm thinkin about reusing, but I dont think the mATX board it's on has AGP

the sky is the limit... If you're keeping the 1.3, then get the KM3M.

What's your overall budget for the system, i read the games you typically play and you don't really need a beefy video card for them. Just wondering, personally if i were you I'd get the 9600 over that 9200, SE isn't a good card at all.
