    Yo OT dudes!

OK so I have always had really good download speeds from Torrents. For some reason though the latest couple of days have been really really slow. Like 10-20 kB/s max :(

I have switched ISP recently, and yes, they do try and throttle P2P download speeds. However I followed the guide for uTorrent and it worked fine. Usual average download was about 500-600 kB/s (my connection max is roughly 800 kB/s).

So does anyone know why things have suddenly gone so slow? I would really appreciate any help or advice as this is completely killing my Torrent experience :(

    Thank you in advance!

    Peace!

Okay.. so what you're trying to say is, you're subscribed to an ISP that throttles torrent traffic and you have already enabled protocol encryption. Protocol encryption used to work fine but recently the speeds have gone down again, correct?

Chances are, the ISP has updated their throttling methods and have defeated the encryption that is used in clients like uTorrent and Azureus. There's not much you can do about it aside from subscribing to a VPN service. Basically, you can either switch to another ISP that doesn't throttle torrent traffic or you can forget about torrents

Thank you for the post, what you say makes a lot of sense.

I might try giving my ISP a call tomorrow and ask them about the issue.

Do you know of any other clients that may be able to solve the throttling?

Well that's it! I just routed uTorrent through a VPN service (findnot.com) and the speeds jumped right up to around 400 kB/s.

Obviously my ISP has found a way over the encryption technique.

    Damn :(
