I put up my 870 for sale and there's still 1 hour and 40 minutes and even though it hit my reserve price I was still hoping for a decent amount more. I might cancel at the last minute if the price doesn't come up a bit more because I have 2 local buyers that talked me down from $350 to $275 minus the 28" barrel but neither has responded back with a sure answer yet. So is gunbroker kind of like ebay where people wait until the last minute to throw in their actual bids and drive the price way up, or is the price pretty static in the last hour?

    thx

on the off chance one of you is interested

gunbroker has a rule that if someone bids on the item towards the end the auction is extended to prevent sniping.

I've seen auctions where gun was being sold by a gun shop and there was a disclaimer that if it sold locally, the auction would be ended. Not sure how they get away with that crap, maybe because they have some paid gunbroker account or something.

Yeah it says in the FAQ you basically have to sell it to the highest bidder at the time you end it. :dunno: I wonder how they get out of it

edit :uh: Forgot I copied and pasted that above. oh wellz, redundant post is redundant.

Technically I'm not supposed to, but I ended up ending it early and I'm writing the guy an e-mail now hopefully he'll be understanding. He'll probably leave negative feedback but whatevs I doubt I'll ever use gunbroker again anyway.

you could have someone you know outbid the current high-bidder and then you'll either get more money for it from the high-bidder, or finish the auction and "sell" it to your friend. you're out the insertion fee, but if you can get more money locally, it shouldn't matter.
