i have some audiobooks encoded in 192kbps mp3, which i would like to downcode to something more reasonable and for my ipod. what i want to do is use the 'Spoken Podcast' setting on itunes, but every time i change it to AAC and then to 'Spoken Podcast' from 'High Quality (128)' it gets automagically changed back to 'High Quality' immediately. Is there something wrong with my codecs or something else that I can do so that i can transcode files into lower quality AAC files?

    Thanks!

Mine does it fine. Try using a lower quality mp3 setting instead of AAC

yeah, i know it's possible, but the reason i need aac is so that my ipod will recognize it as an audiobook. but thanks!
