Lots of spoiler threads and whatnot, but no real discussion going on about the show itself. Was it a threat to the UFC? Is Pride here to stay? Production value? What did everyone think?

I think Pride should just stay in Japan. I mean, I have to watch it on tv either way whether it's there or in the USA but at least when it's in Japan they fight under Pride rules.

None of the fights last night were boring, and the only fight I saw where the rules could have been abused was in the Fedor - Coleman fight. In Japan Fedor could have kneed Coleman a bit while he was trying to hang onto that single leg... but otherwise nothing was really changed. Maybe a few times in the Hendo fight as well, but it wouldn't have changed that outcome.

I just feel like any significant victories/upsets that happen over here would always have an asterisk next to them.

    - Phil Baroni $97,000
    - Yosuke Nishijima $25,000
    - Dan Henderson $125,000
    - Vitor Belfort $75,000
    - Eric Esch $50,000

The event was... okay. All the matches went exactly as people expected them to. No real surprises, and a freakshow thrown in for good measure. A lot of big names, but none of them had real competition. I can't say it's dissapointing since we all knew exactly what to expect. Still good to see Pride in the US. Nothing can take that away.

Pride can put on an awesome show in the US and fill seats.
UFC goes to Japan and fails.

Man Pride was so interesting to me.
I loved the fights. Some were silly.
Butterbean was just fun to watch.
Randleman seems to make pretty bad decisions while fighting. OFTEN. Hes physically supposed to be the best but he just doesnt have it in his mind.
The "New York Badass" Baroni Jabroni is a chump, I hate his attitude but I saw how strong he was. I want somebody to run him over.
Belfort gassed AGAIN, When is this guy gonna get proper conditioning?
I absolutely loved Fedor. Fedor was amazing, it's pretty rare when somebody like him can make you want to learn more. Anybody know why he wont look fighters in the eye beforehand? He reminded me of a caged animal that just outbursts in the ring when he chooses to do so. Amazing.
I sincerely hope that they cross-fight Pride and UFC fighters...I think UFC has got a lot to learn.
    Pride- Here to stay.
Dana White better suck it up.

    *edit*
The baby-faced Assasin acted like a moron and said "Ill show you what a real heavyweight looks like"
I feel he has no right to say that untill he number 1 (which will be never)

I enjoyed the event... I thought the LONG intermission was kind of BS, but how were they to know that some of the fights would be so short... They should have at least found better "filler" than showing fight we'd just seen minutes before... I'm disappointed that Mark Hunt couldn't fight as him vs. "the butterbean" would have been an interesting battle of 2 big fat strikers... I could care less about O'Haire... I forget how AWESOME Fedor is since I haven't seen him fight in a while... He really seems to have all strengths, and no weaknesses... Coleman worked all fight on the take down (ate LOTS of punches for his efforts),and when he finally got it, it was his demise...

That may be. BUT, He didnt say UFC Heavyweight. He just said Heavyweight. Hes basically calling out Crocop and Fedor both. He seems like he's good (minus he is kinda sloppy standing up, his footwork is hilarious) I dont know. I just think his mouth will write a check his ass cant cash.

That's exactly what he said. It's been what he's said in every interview up until the event with him dogging the UFC.

And he "seems" like he's good? I assume this is the first time you've seen him fight.

Yeah, pretty much. His exact words were, "I'm gonna show you what a real Heavyweight looks like." So that would lead ANYONE to believe he meant everyone in that class, unless youve known the back story. I think I watched a clip of him owning randleman hard. Not sure.

Most people do. The whole big story about Pride USA in Vegas is the direct competition to the UFC.
