GUN Read that .308 AP is illegal but 5.56 and .30-06 are not.

Fucking seriously? I checked the ATF website and it wasn't a joke, 5.56 and .30-06 are the only two calibers they say are legal to have with a steel core. CTD however sells .50 BMG AP rounds all damn day along with 5.56 M855 and .30-06 M2 AP but they couldn't sell 7.62 NATO with a steel core because it's banned specifically? I'm wondering why they think you can get a handgun in .308 but not .223 or .30-06. :ugh:

I double checked because I thought the guy was full of shit but I'm sorry to say he's right.

ss109/steel core is NOT armor piercing

    What exactly did you read?

SS109's core is composed of steel and lead so it is not AP. Lets call it enhanced penetration, but it isn't AP although alot of sellers will list it as such.

There was a PDF on the ATF website that said the only exclusions from the designation armor piercing were 5.56 and .30-06 M2 AP.

Anything made before 86 is legal to sell, but nothing produced afterward would be legal for civilian use.

I just thought everybody should know this, I'm almost positive I've seen some guy selling this stuff and I don't know when it was produced.

With the legal definition of AP Ammo pertaining only to handgun rounds, and seeing how there is no legal citation for that list, it sure looks like a bunch of FUD to me.
