I've rented the nikonand i liked it a lot. is it comparable?

is the tamron worth the price?

No one ever in the history of this forum has ever had anything to say about that lens ever.

I've never seen anything bad about that lens. Its one of the few that is constantly recommended along with the POS canon 50/1.8.

I personally have the sigma 18-50/2.8 because it was a touch lighter on the wallet. And I sent it to sigma for back focusing and now its rad. I have never heard of a problem with the tamron.

just bought one new for $450

    fantastic lens for the price.

as with most non-nikons, it's not as sharp at 2.8. f/4 and up is sharp as hell.

it's built like a tank and the focus is decent. the lens rarely leaves my body.

Welp, I'm desperately trying to find one for sale with a Canon mount for <325ish, and as soon as they go up, someone buys them within the hour.

Doesn't it have a pretty annoying buzzy focusing motor? Otherwise i've heard that it's great.

it might. i'm so ignorant to focus noise. the only lens that every annoyed me was the shitty 50 1.8 screw drive

OTAP recommend the lens when I asked and I got it (new) for $450. Nothing bad to say about it other than it's got a loud motor.

just get it...probably one of the best lenses for the money

  23. Incredible sharp, a little noisy AF, but a constant 2.8 at a fair price is hard to beat

I like mine, but it front-focused from the factory and I had to send it back for warranty repair. It is awesome now! Tack sharp wide open
