I don't know if Canons do this, but I have an option on both my current cameras where I can compress the RAW file or leave it uncompressed. My question is, does the compression somehow effect the IQ or the file or is it just like .zip and .rar files but in camrea? I've taken pictures with both settings and I can't tell too much of a difference on my screen, but I didn't know if technical gurus of this section knew the answer to that question.

I think if your shooting RAW you probably don't want to use sRAW anyway. I'm not sure I'd see a point when the purpose of RAW is to get the raw data from the chip for later processing. I think I'd want and need the best data I could get since I know I'd need the extra help:-0
