So Ive found a holster that improves what I didnt like about the MTAC.

I ordered a Raven Concealment Holster about 3 weeks ago, the holster is a "modular" system, it came with regular 1.5" belt loops so you can wear it OWB, but I also ordered a set of over-hooks which allow me to wear it IWB.

I didn't think there were much better made kydex holsters on the market besides Comp-Tac, but wow, the construction of this holster is amazing. It is a bit thinner than Comp-Tac, but it feels so much more rigid all around, the holster is built of two thin halves joined together by some fasteners (I cant think of the name ATM), and it is overall a very thin holster.

My 3 biggest gripes with the MTAC were

-Retention, the gun just kinda slides into the MTAC and all the retention there is is your belt holding it against your body.

The RCS holster has awesome retention, the gun goes in and there is a definitive point where you have to slightly push the gun and it sternly clicks in place, and stays there, I can shake the holster with the gun with a loaded magazine and it does not come out, the MTAC the gun will easily fall out with a bit of jiggle.

-Re-holstering, my biggest grip was being able to reholster easily. I have to disarm myself when I get to work in my car, and reholstering is not the easiest, being that half the holster is a very soft leather. When the gun is out of the holster it wants to really squeeze and cave in making it difficult to reholster.

With the RCS the body of the holster compresses very slightly, and after a few tries I can reholster one handed no looking no problem already.

    - Speed, with a full kydex holster the speed is quite a bit faster than my MTAC. Not really a huge deal but still one of the improvements.

Interesting. Seems like a lot of extra kydex tho, perhaps it helps distribute the weight/pressure.

That would last all of about 15 minutes on me before I finally got fed up with the heat and stiffness and chucked it.
Not a fan of eyelets either. Tacticool looks on an IWB are worthless and puts metal against skin (rust, scratches)

Are you sure your MTAC half-body isn't loose? Mine has really good retention...

I have been reading lots of good things about the Ravens lately... another to add to the long list of holsters to try some day.

Uhh, the eyelets are there for function, not flash.

And for you hot weather people, isnt kydex preferred over leather in the hot weather?

You should be able to adjust the retention on the MTAC. I can on my CTAC.

You can, but retention is still not that good because its half kydex/half leather, with it cranked all the way the gun is still not that tightly held.

Their holsters are great. I was skeptical at first but I like them now.

The modular aspect is a nice-to-have, but most people are lazy and won't change their holster configuration.

The guys from Raven are good dudes as well and in gun culture, that can be rare.

fuck, that's dirt cheap for what appears to be a relatively good holster. Thanks for the heads up.

damn, I just loctited the screws down with the overhooks after a bitch they were to put on :(

The OWB loops attach to the 1st and 3rd hole of the holster.

Ill try and find some OWB pics.

There is not much cant, about 5-10 degrees or so. You can email Jay and he can most likely customize a holster for you as needed.

Heres how it would look like OWB

That thing looks like it would be uncomfortable as fuck IWB. The square bottom seems like it would dig into your thigh/leg when sitting to.
