    Dayum.

That's too much. After the first year's warranty is up, you could probably find a motherboard, cpu and video card for that much on ebay.

Well that sounds like a pretty reasonable deal.

As long as it doesn't have anything to do with what Jolly just said.

I would buy the right deal from Dell, because I would know how to hammer their customer service if I had to. Plus I know how to kick their dicks in with small claims court if necessary.

But they suck beyond belief at people skills.

You could do really well on a laptop for half that much.

    I woudln't worry about it.

If you're wanting to use the dell credit line, then get the Vostro.

It's not their upper business laptop, but it's still a magnesium alloy case with a mylar sealed keyboard, 17" screen and core 2 duo with 8400 nvidia card, 2gb of memory and a 160gb drive.
    $899 shipped.

You were paying big bucks for the 2.4ghz core 2 duo upgrade.
I think it adds something like $500 to the end cost, which is a shame because that's pretty much what a 2.4ghz costs for a laptop.
Dell is raking it in on that one.
The uxga version of the 17" adds $150.
You can't get that video card on the Vostro, so I don't know what the difference is there.

Other than that, they look similar in features.
