I'll join the bandwagon and post these. Started Deadlifts recently (within last month or two) and can always use the input as I workout alone, at home.

Pardon the mess, btw. Home gym still under construction. :mamoru:

First video is warmup set.. 6x95lbs. I usually do 10-15 reps, but didn't for whatever reason. From what i can tell (although I'm no expert), everything looks fine here?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcW7BzmMGIo

Second video is with weight.. 6x215..

Looking at this video after the fact, it appears my back may not be straight enough and slightly rounded.. and I DEFINITELY need to get my ass lower.. I'm almost pulling a GuOD SLDL :mamoru:

    OK.. suggest away!

keep the bar closer to your body -- for every inch the bar's out in front of you , you lose 50 pounds (someone said this to me at my last meet...132 pounder who pulls 450)

Wow, that's interesting thought. I'll have to be more conscious in doing that. I'm assuming best way to accomplish keeping the bar close is with the 'falling back' motion?

Datacomguy is not large. :coold: But yeah i didnt know that ..makes sense that leverages would be different for different body types

i have heard that 'extra bodyweight' doesnt really help for the deadlift - it helps for the squat and bench surely, but sometimes people gain 10-20 pounds and their deadlift actually goes down

The theory being that you don't want to pull the bar out and up.. you want to pull the bar up and in.

You're not fat, however.. :ugh2: We're close to the same size, I believe..

:werd: personally i like it right in the middle of my foot between my ankle and toes (6'4")... On big lifts it always scrapes my shins anyways though.

edit: well he's saying tall thin lifters pull better w/ bar at the shins... maybe i gotta try that even though I can't stand the scrape :o

your form is better though especially since your lower back doesn't curve much (based on my memory anyway). Worry less, deadlift more. :bigthumb:

Datacom guy: like everyone said, your spine is really curved when you're lifting, especially after the first rep.

Try working on hip mobility and start analyzing posture in front of a mirror every time you lift (beforehand with a broomstick or just the bar) and make sure you've got your spine at neutral and butt down. If you do that regularly you will learn the "feel" of the movement and it will become second nature after a few months... At least that's the type of thing that worked for me when it comes to squats, RDL's, etc

    yeah I caught that.

Question: how do i fight the scrape? I hate having banged up shins all the time.

My old style DL are not necessarily bad for my lower back... cuz I don't really round it but it's basically a pure SLD where I use only my back which is the wrong way for me to be doing it... so I gotta work on my new form :o
