    hey, just thought id see what OT thinks of my specs.


    AMD AthlonXP 1700+
    1.8 GHz
    512 DDR RAM
    80 Gig HD
    LG 4081 8x DVD+/- Burner
    52x24x52 LG CD-RW
    Albatron Gigi FX5900PV (VIVO) 128mb
    Turtle Beach 5.1 Sound card
    Logitech Z-640 5.1 speaker set-up

    You could get a lot more out of your aging computer by an upgraded CPU. Something like a 2600XP would make a noticle improvement.

    everything else looks good.

    might want to throw in another 512 MB RAM while RAM's still fairly cheap.

    What kind of cooling are you using to OC that 1700+ to 1.8GHz?

    I have a similar computer, only more hard drive space, no dvd burner, and amd 2500+, FX5200. I'd say the computer is good for multimedia and most games. I use mine for programming, games, music. I don't expect to play games like Half Life 2 and Doom 3. I also don't expect to buy the best video cards now, to play games that come out 2 years later.

    MY CARD IS A : Albatron Gigi FX5900PV (VIVO) 128mb

    (9800XT?)

    Then, yes. Something in the 9800 series would be comparable as ATI cards go.
