    Little Holiday gaming gift for myself. Before I pull the trigger, what do you guys think?

    q6600 -> i7. Ignore in between.
    q6600 overclocking potential is enough to not consider other Socket 775, get an i7 if possible obviously. Why buy into an outdated system with no upgrade potential.

    didn't have the extra cash for the i7. plus, no decent aftermarket cpu coolers

    Just a general question but doesn't the heat sink normally come with a retention bracket? why would you have to buy one?

    just thinking about running 2 4870x2's... jesus christ

    all in all though, im not exactly ready to buy into crossfire/sli just yet. which is probably stupid on my part.

    stock mounting is terrible on this cpu cooler; but, it is the best price/performance imo
