built old one for bf2. replaced video card twice, capacitors exploded on my last one. probably because power supply went to shit. would crash on STEAM GAMES so need replacing....and i've been using the same CRT monitor since early 2000. id like to play games on it as well (played bf2-a lotup until my computer would start crashing during games and the disc got scratched up) would like to get into fallout3/left4dead/etc. mostly watch movies/tv.

if you've noticed a pattern it's because i sorted by best rating and chose whatever was close to the top. :hsugh:

already have keyboard/mouse. probably replace those soon. use my stereo speakers.

Total: $888.92(excluding shipping). are prices gonna drop soon and i should wait?

watching movies/tv + those games you mentioned really doesn't benefit from a quad,... so a faster dual core, say the E8400, would be a better choice specially if budget is an issue.

but not to confuse you or anything,... consider overclocking.
    OC'd Q6600 to 3.0GHz > 3.0GHZ E8400 > slow ass stock Q6600
you get best of both worlds, more cores plus higher clock speed.

you really don't need high ocs. that q6600 can easily get to 3.0GHz with that mobo. oters here can help with you that.
